Trigonometry Comic Strip
Name of Assignment: Trigonometry Comic Strip
Subject:Geometry Facilitator/Teacher:Ms.Marsh Description of Work/Assignment: For this assignment, we had to create a comic strip using the 3 trig ratios (Sine, Cosine, Tangent). The whole project had to include at least 5 panels with color and neatness, along with at least 3 trigonometry equations with one solving for an angle. Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? I think interpersonal skills and thinking and problem solving play a huge role in this assignment because of the matter of information and creativity incorporated into one. Every panel has a story with an equation to solve below. That way, using art and stories can create an easier way of understanding trigonometry. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I am the most proud of the equations and how they all turned out correct and accurate. Throughout the process of completing, I have a better understanding of trigonometry. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? The way I have developed interpersonal and thinking and problem solving skills was to find a way to incorporate what I had learned and make an interesting comic. Sometimes being precise on top of trying to be engaging and creative and be difficult, but those are the steps into gaining knowledge to skills How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? I would improve on the storyline and add more details. I would like to spend more time on going more in-depth on my drawings and story. How can you apply this to future learning? Every time a project like this has been assigned, I try and be creative; finding ways to add in requirements of our knowledge in a entertaining way. Next time I can apply these learning skills to a different project. |
Atomic Model Project
Name of Assignment: Atomic Model Project
Subject: Chemistry
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms.S
Description of Work/Assignment: For this project, we had to create a details model of an assigned element with all of the components; including the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons, the energy levels, the mass, and the atomic number with some interesting facts. (Then create a video)
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?: The main skill that stood out from this project was communication skills. After gathers our information on the element and building the model, we had to create a video explaining all of the element’s components. I had to make sure to be be clear, make eye-contact, include factual information, and an edited, well put together video over all.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?: I am most proud of the outcome of my video. I believe that the video was well edited, had clarity, was short and simple with all the needed information.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? What was most difficult about completing this task?: I had develop some communication skills because of the time I put in to practice the quality of the video, and how smoothly I explained the model. The difficult task was to improve on the way I spoke during the video, and to limit the stuttering for a more professional presentation.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? I would like to improve on the model itself. If I had the money and the materials to make a more presentable model, I would have done so. I felt like the model was unstable and had not great materials but that was something I was unable to control.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? This relates to most of the projects I had done in the past with communication and presenting. The key is to keep the talking short and simple although containing the information.
How can you apply this to future learning? I can apply this to future learning by applying the communication skills from the project and learn to use the materials I have instead of spending money.

Transformation Art Project
Name of Assignment: Transformation Art Project
Subject: Geometry Facilitator/Teacher: Ms.Marsh Description of Work/Assignment: For this project, we had to use our graphing skills from previous assignments. First, we had to draw an “original” drawing that had 10 or more points on the graph. Then graph the desired rotation(90,180, 270), transformation, and reflection(X or Y). Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?: The main skill that stood out from this project was Self Directional because we had to determine how the shape would look after preforming all of rotation, transformation, and reflections. We had to maintain a certain amount of points as well to keep the task do-able but not quite easy. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?: I am most proud of the outcome of the graphing. I was able to finish it without any complications, and was able to do it neatly. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? What was most difficult about completing this task?: I had improved on Self directional from this project by taking my time to look at the details. Sometimes in other projects I tend to rush through but I learned that the outcome will be neater by taking your time. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? To be 100% honest, I think that my project was the best outcome I was looking for, although maybe I’d change the shape of the drawing to something other than a heart. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? This relates to most of the projects I had done in the past with detailed requirements. I had compared it to others where I’d take more time to be precise, because one wrong coordinate can mess up and change the whole project. How can you apply this to future learning? I can apply this to future learning by applying the self directional skills to future subjects and assignments. I have learned to take time on the details, and to not speed through and make mistakes that can be easy to avoid. |
